Abstract
An unusual case of malignant melanoma of the lower left gingiva in a 23-year-old white
woman has been presented. This tumor is considered one of the most malignant of the
primary neoplasms that occur intraorally. The need for early detection and prompt
treatment is obvious. In this case the tumor had been evident only 6 weeks prior to
surgical intervention and had already metastasized to a regional lymph node.
