      Abstract

Many infectious and parasitic diseases exist within and without the borders of the United States. As dental officers in the Armed Forces, we are placed in the unique position of having to worry about exposing both ourselves and our families to many of these diseases as we serve around the world. To increase our cognizance of these entities, this capsule review has been presented to shed light on the pathology, epidemiology, symptomatology, treatment, and prognosis of some of the more common bacterial, viral, rickettsial, protozoal, and parasitic worm infections.
